Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent… I am slow of speech and tongue.”
Have you ever felt like what God was asking of you was too much? Like you weren’t skilled enough, holy enough, or just… enough?
Moses felt that too.
When God called Moses to go back to Egypt and lead His people out of slavery, Moses didn’t jump up and say, “Yes, Lord!” Instead, he hesitated. He gave excuses. He looked at his weaknesses. “I’m not a good speaker,” he said. “Send someone else.”
And if we’re being honest, sometimes this is us. Whether it’s stepping up to lead, praying out loud, sharing your story, or just living differently from everyone else, it’s easy to think we’re not ready. That we’re not good enough.
But God isn’t looking for perfect people. He’s looking for willing hearts. And Moses, with all his doubts and insecurities, became one of the greatest leaders in Scripture, not because of his ability, but because of God’s power working through him.
Maybe today, you feel like God is asking you to do something that feels beyond you. It could also be forgiving someone, starting something new, or simply showing up. And maybe your first thought is, “I’m not ready. I can’t do that.”
But what if God isn’t asking you to be ready? What if He’s just asking you to trust Him?
So maybe the real question isn’t “Can I do this?” but “Will I let God help me do this?”
Moses’ story reminds us: God doesn’t wait for us to have it all together. He meets us in our weakness and shows us that He is strong enough. He is with us... and that is what makes all the difference.
Question:
What is something you’ve been afraid to do because you feel unqualified? Could it be the very thing God is calling you to trust Him with today?
Prayer:
Dear Lord, I admit I often feel unworthy or unable. But I’m learning that You don’t need me to be perfect… You just want my yes. So today, I give You my yes. Use me, even in my weakness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
