Shaqueena Danvers
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.
Have you ever noticed that the hardest time to “be still” is when everything in your life feels like a big mess?
Like your mind is loud…
your emotions are loud…
your worries are loud…
and God is just whispering,
“Be still.”
It almost feels unfair, right?
I mean... How am I supposed to be still when everything around me is shaking?
But here’s the truth most of us forget:
Stillness isn’t the absence of noise;
it’s choosing peace in the middle of it.
Think about Jesus and the disciples in the storm.
The waves were wild.
The boat was rocking.
The disciples were panicking.
And Jesus?
He was asleep.
(Imagine sleeping through a whole thunderstorm on a boat… couldn’t be me.)
But His stillness wasn’t carelessness;
it was confidence.
He knew the storm wasn’t bigger than Him.
And that’s where we mess up.
We stare at our storms, school stress, heartbreaks, friendships falling apart, pressure to “figure out life,” feeling behind, feeling unsure, and we forget that the One who controls the wind is in the boat with us.
Sometimes God isn’t asking you to be still because He wants you to do less.
Sometimes He’s asking because you’ve been carrying too much.
Being still doesn’t mean giving up.
It means giving God room to move.
It means releasing the things you keep stressing over.
It means realizing that peace is not found in knowing the plan;
peace is found in knowing the One who holds the plan.
So today,
Take one thing that’s been weighing on you,
the thing that stresses you, drains you, distracts you,
and instead of overthinking it again, say:
“God, I’m giving this to You.
Teach me how to be still.”
He didn’t ask you to have the answers.
He asked you to trust the One who does.
🌸Prayer:
Dear God,
My life feels loud sometimes.
Help me to slow down, breathe, and remember that You are in control.
Teach me how to be still, even when everything around me feels overwhelming.
Quiet my heart and help me to trust You more.
Amen.
