“For we walk by faith, not by sight”
There was a young girl by the name of Elena who hated the dark because she was clumsy… like “trip-over-her-own-foot” clumsy.
One night, the electricity went out while she was in her room. She sighed, grabbed her phone, and turned on the flashlight. But just as she took one step… her phone died.
Pitch. Black.
She stood there frozen, thinking, “I’m going to break a toe today, I just know it.”
But she needed to get to the table where her charger was.
One small problem: the floor had shoes, notebooks, and a hairbrush scattered everywhere. It was basically an obstacle course.
Elena took a tiny step forward, feeling around with her foot before she moved again.
Then another step.
And another.
Slow. Careful. Trusting that she’d reach her goal.
And the whole time she whispered,
“Lord, I don’t know what I’m stepping on… but just guide me.”
After a few slow steps, she finally felt the edge of the table.
She smiled in the darkness, relieved:
“I made it.”
But as she plugged in her phone, something hit her:
“This is exactly what faith feels like.”
Faith Is Stepping Without the Full Picture
Faith isn’t walking confidently when everything is clear.
Faith is taking steps when the path isn’t visible yet.
So often we say,
“God, just show me the whole plan.”
“Show me how everything will work out.”
“Explain why this is happening.”
But faith rarely works like that.
God doesn’t always turn the lights on.
Sometimes He simply says,
“My daughter, take the next step. I’m with you.”
That’s why 2 Corinthians 5:7 tells us:
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Faith isn’t about seeing the whole map.
It’s about trusting the One who is leading you.
Just like Elena had to feel her way through the darkness, we sometimes have to move through seasons where we don’t have all the answers.
• You don’t know how the situation will end.
• You don’t know how the prayer will be answered.
• You don’t know how God is working behind the scenes.
• You don’t know why the season feels slow, confusing, or silent.
But faith says:
“Even if I can’t see it, God is guiding me step by step.”
As young women, you often feel pressure to know exactly what you’re doing… in school, in relationships, in your spiritual life, in your future.
But guess what?
You don’t need full clarity to trust God.
You just need willingness.
Willingness to take the next step.
Willingness to believe God is working.
Willingness to trust that He sees what you can’t.
Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is move forward in faith even if you’re unsure, even if you’re scared, even if you feel like the “lights are off.”
Because God has never asked you to walk alone.
He only asks you to walk with Him.
Prayer
Father, thank You for being our guide even when we cannot see the path ahead. Strengthen our faith today. Help us take the steps You are calling us to take, Lord… not with fear, but with confidence that You are leading us. Cover every young woman here with peace, courage, and a deeper trust in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
